Growing up in South Brunswick, going to Rutgers, even sharing a high school class together, Sukriti and Zaeem lived seemingly parallel lives that came literally inches from meeting multiple times over the years. They were even in the same house at a mutual friends’ birthday but their paths never met until one day in June 2011. They were both bored as the school year ended and there was nothing to do and were playing multiplayer Tetris on Facebook. Sukriti saw Zaeem’s name pop up and decided to challenge him to a game. Through this one simple game invite, they started talking all day and formed a new friendship that neither would understand the importance of until at least a year later. She even ended up coming to his birthday party a couple of weeks later. They ended up hanging out much more that summer, as they had just joined Greek Life together at Rutgers and shared so many mutual friends. Their friends watched as some sparks were flying between Sukriti and Zaeem, even though they didn’t know it themselves. They just thought this was the beginning of a great friendship. Zaeem decided to take a couple of classes with Sukriti as he really enjoyed spending time with her and thought she would easily become one of his best friends. Their friendship grew immensely that year and they talked almost every day. After a year of being best friends, they both started to realize that this friendship had so much more potential. One day, they were hanging out together and Zaeem decided to take a risk and go in for a kiss and the rest is history.
