Question

What Are The Events?

Answer

Haldi- A Haldi ceremony is a vibrant, pre-wedding ritual in Indian culture where a paste of turmeric, oil, and water is applied to the bride and groom to purify, bless, and enhance their beauty. Mehndi- A Mehndi ceremony is a joyous pre-wedding tradition where the bride has intricate henna designs applied to her hands and feet. The application of mehndi serves several symbolic purposes: It is regarded as a sign of 'suhaag,' implying a blissful married life, and is emblematic of vibrance, fertility and the attraction of positivity. Sangeet- The word sangeet translates to "sung together," representing the union and bonding of the two families. A sangeet ceremony is a vibrant, music-filled pre-wedding party, originally from Punjab, where both families sing, dance, and celebrate the couple. Typically held a night or two before the wedding, this event features choreographed performances, traditional folk songs, lavish food, and, increasingly, modern Bollywood-style performances. Anand Karaj- the Sikh wedding ceremony, meaning "Blissful Event," a spiritual union where the couple takes vows while circling the Guru Granth Sahib (holy scripture) four times, guided by hymns called Lavan, symbolizing their souls merging and their partnership with God. Reception- The reception is the celebratory party that follows a wedding ceremony, where the newly married couple receives and celebrates with their family and friends, typically featuring a meal, music, dancing, speeches, and toasts, marking the official beginning of their married life together in a festive setting. It's the social gathering where guests mingle, eat, drink, and enjoy entertainment, distinct from the solemn vows of the ceremony.
