Traditionally, the bride or groom would be living with their paternal side of the family, at their ancestral home. At the start of the wedding week, the bride/grooms maternal side (naanke) makes the trip to the bride/grooms paternal home (daadke). The naanke arrive with gifts for the bride/groom, and make a grand entrance with song and dance.
Mehndi Night - simpler Punjabi clothes or casual dresses Jago - traditional, folk Punjabi clothes Anand Karaj - Traditional, modest but fancy Punjabi clothes. Bride side - emerald green. Groom side - pastel pink. Head must be covered, shoes will be removed at the Gurdwara. Reception - black tie formal
