All the museums in the National Mall and throughout DC are free. Fun fact: they're free because our tax dollars fund them! The Washington Monument is famously featured in the movie "Night at the Museum." The surrounding museums are wonderful and family-friendly, including the National Air and Space Museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the National Gallery of Art, the U.S. Botanic Garden, and many others.
