Wedding Day

The Sikh wedding, Anand Karaj, begins with the groom's 'Baraat', a lively procession to the Gurdwara, where he's welcomed by the bride's family during the 'Milni' ceremony, symbolizing the union of families. Guests then enjoy tea and breakfast, mingling before the ceremony. Entering the Gurdwara, everyone removes their shoes and covers their heads as a sign of respect.
Inside, the bride joins the groom, and the ceremony starts with an Ardaas (prayer). The couple then performs the Lavan, circling the Guru Granth Sahib four times, each round symbolizing a deepening spiritual union. The ceremony concludes with a final prayer and the distribution of a sweet 'Prashad' to the congregation, marking the blessings of the union. Then lunch is hosted by the newlyweds.
