The Fort Worth Stockyards is a historic district that is located in Fort Worth, Texas and is a former livestock market which operated under various owners from 1866. Today, you can see livestock walk the streets while you enjoy some BBQ or beers from the brewery district. There is also a longhorn cattle drive that happens twice daily, every day, at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm - this is a Texas must!
Billy Bob’s Texas opened April 1, 1981 with national attention featuring with its 100,000 square feet entertainment center, more than 30 bar stations, country music’s biggest stars, real Pro Bull Riding, and a Texas size dance floor. It is right around the corner from the stockyards!
Fort Worth Botanic Gardens is absolutely beautiful! The garden was established in 1934 and is the oldest major botanic garden in Texas. There is so much to see and do there, our favorite feature is the Japanese Garden.
Sundance Square was one of the first places David and I explored when we moved to Texas - we love everything Fort Worth. Sundance Square is a pedestrian-friendly downtown district packed with clothing chains, Western-wear shops, steakhouses and sports bars. It's also known as an entertainment hub, with small theaters, events and concerts at Sundance Square Plaza, and the Bass Performance Hall, staging opera, ballet and classical music.
Another one of our Texas "firsts." The Fort Worth Water Gardens is a beautiful and refreshing oasis adjacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center. Designed by Philip Johnson, the Fort Worth Water Gardens is an architectural and engineering marvel to be enjoyed any time of the year. Visitors can experience a variety of water features as they wander through this relaxing urban park.
Texas is obviously known for it's barbecue and after having tried several, this is by far our favorite! If you have never tried a Burnt End, now is the time - it is absolutely delicious and our favorite! Well, technically Heim is my favorite BBQ... David loves Riscky's BBQ located in the Stockyards. You can't go wrong with either option!
Originated in 2013, The Bearded Lady is a low-key gastropub with a high-key, dog friendly patio offering gourmet pub food, cocktails, wine & rotating local & nationwide craft beers.
Right along the Trinity River, HG Supply Co. is one of our favorites to go and grab bunch! They have several options for both brunch and dinner, along with very fun adult beverages!
A great option for breakfast or brunch, it is located on Main Street which is within walking distance of the hotel block!
Provender Hall is within the Stockyards and it offers a luscious take on American comfort food, with a playful menu spanning oysters on the half-shell to chicken gumbo to steak frites. Salads and sides such as crispy okra, braised greens and cheddar-cheese grits are also on offer. We love going here for brunch or dinner whenever we are hanging out at the stockyards!
You can't visit Texas without having Tex-Mex! Los Vaqueros is located in the Stockyards and has been passed down for three generations of the Cisneros family. They are dedicated to quality, family recipes, and the freshest ingredients to prepare comforting and delicious Tex-Mex cuisine.
Jakes has been around since 1985 and is known for serving award winning burgers made with 100% Texas Beef. A great option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! It is located on Main Street, which is within walking distance to the hotel block!
One of our favorite places to go and grab a drink, especially frozen! Second Rodeo Brewing is a come-as-you-are brewery, live music venue and outdoor bar-garden for folks of all ages and their furry buddies, too. Inspired by the Outlaw Country music renegades and the outlaw cowboys of yesteryear’s Texas Prison Rodeo, you will discover a unique and playful interior design with many hidden gems. This is where our Welcome Party will take place on Thursday night!
One of our favorite spots downtown to grab coffee!
