Our Story

Where It All Began

It all started on August 22, 2023. Tyler had just wrapped up his professional baseball career and was living on Sanibel Island, working construction on the Sanibel Bridge. Megan had recently made a big change too—leaving her teaching job to start working from home in Naples as an insurance underwriter. We met for our first date at Fort Myers Brewery, where Tyler offered to buy Megan a beer (which, honestly, sealed the deal). Tucker, Megan’s dog, tagged along—and it’s still up for debate who Tyler fell for first. We sat outside eating food truck tacos, sipping local brews, and watching the sun set while talking for hours. (Let’s be honest—Megan did most of the talking, but Tyler was a great listener.) That night, there was an instant connection neither of us wanted to end. From there, things moved quickly—texts turned into phone calls, phone calls into late-night FaceTimes, and soon we were spending every spare moment together. Tyler planned the best dates: seafood dinners in Naples, homemade pizza nights at the Sanibel condo, Chick-fil-A picnics at sunset, and of course, plenty more brewery stops. Somewhere along the way, we realized that fried pickles had become our thing—if a menu has them, we’re ordering them. Tyler quickly learned that Megan’s big heart, strong faith, and ability to make anywhere feel like home were just as special as her love for trying new breweries, chasing sunsets, and bringing Tucker along for the adventure whenever possible. Megan, meanwhile, learned that Tyler was steady, intentional, and somehow equally content spending a quiet night in or making last-minute plans just to be together. It didn’t take long for Tyler to know she was the one. When Tyler’s bridge project ended, he moved back to Fort Lauderdale, but that didn’t slow us down. He made the drive across Alligator Alley nearly every weekend, proving that a few hours on the road was more than worth it. Somewhere in between visits, a friendly rivalry also took shape—Megan’s lifelong loyalty to the Tampa Bay Lightning versus Tyler’s devotion to the Florida Panthers—and the debate is still very much alive in our house. A few months later, Tyler started Crane Operator school in Tampa—coincidentally, the same city where Megan grew up and where her family still lives. Looking back, it’s impossible not to see God’s hand in every step—aligning cities, timing, and hearts in ways neither of us could have planned. Tyler was everything Megan had prayed for… right down to the blonde hair, blue eyes, and baseball background. That summer, when Megan’s Naples lease ended, she made the move to the other coast so we could finally live in the same city. There was one small condition: Tyler had one year to propose, or she was moving back (kidding… kind of). But he didn’t need that long. On Megan’s birthday trip to Marco Island, Tyler planned the most perfect proposal—roses, a beach picnic setup, and a hidden photographer to capture the moment as the sun set behind us. It was everything Megan could have dreamed of and the easiest “yes” ever. Now we’re so excited for what’s ahead—married life, new adventures, sunsets with Tucker, continued hockey debates, and (naturally) many more brewery dates and fried pickle taste tests along the way.
