Our Story - The Short Version

First comes school, then comes marriage

Mike and Megan met day one of freshman year at St. Bonaventure University - Go Bonnies! They both lived in Loughlen Hall; Mike on the first floor and Megan on the fourth. Once Megan was settled into her dorm, she went down to first Lo to visit a few of her high school friends and one of them happened to live across the hall from Mike. (S/O to Mikey for the intro!) Mike and Megan spent a lot of time together and remained close friends throughout college until the summer of senior year when sparks flew at a Brad Paisley concert. After graduation, Mike moved to Buffalo to start his career and the two split time every weekend between Rochester and Buffalo for a year until Megan made the move. Mike and Megan made Buffalo their home, and the rest is history! Two houses, two cats, and 6+ years later, they're ready to tie the knot in the city they call home!

The Proposal

October 20, 2018

It was a brisk, beautiful fall morning and Mike and Megan had a hiking excursion planned down through the Niagara Gorge. The morning of the hike, Megan didn't suspect a thing; Mike didn't even have a bag with him! About 20 minutes into the hike it started raining, which was promptly followed by hail. Laughing at the crazy Buffalo weather, Mike and Megan stopped under a tree for cover; All the while Mike was playing it cool as if it was part of the plan. He had the weather forecast down to a T and they carried on once the hail started to clear. It was a long but nice hike down to the bottom of the Gorge. When they got down to the Whirlpools, the sun was finally peaking out, making for a terrific day and view. Little did Megan know, the day was about to get better. Mike asked Megan if she wanted to take a picture. This was slightly out of character, but Megan always loves to take photos of them; Mike set up his phone against a rock, and on the third take got down on one knee and popped the question! Megan stood there, stunned, and crying tears of happiness, and eventually said yes. It was the most memorable hike!
