Starkville is obviously best known for being home to Mississippi State University. It is worth taking a drive and/or walk around campus to check out the architecture, the stadium, and the Drill Field.
Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge
If you want to get outside in nature while you're here, maybe get some exercise in, then the Refuge is a great place to get away for a walk, run, or hike.
The Guest Room
We went here as part of our first date. This is a speakeasy hidden under Restaurant Tyler. During the month of December, The Guest Room is heavily decorated as "Miracle Under Main," and it is a must-see. Make sure to get your name onthe list early if you plan on going Thursday or Friday night, because it fills up fast!
Starkville Cafe
For a diner-type breakfast or a meat and three type lunch or dinner, Starkville Cafe is a locals' and visitors' favorite and staple of Starkville.
Arepas Coffee & Bar
Arepa's is a small brunch, coffee, and bar spot with a cool Venezuelan menu in the heart of the Cotton District. Fran's favorites include the avocado toast and the different array of coffee drinks.
The Cotton District
The Cotton District of Starkville is a unique neighborhood that has evolved over the decades based on the philosophy of New Urbanism. It is worth walking around this dense neighborhood to look at the architecture and hidden alleys and murals, and eating at Bin 612, Two Brothers, Bulldog Burger, or other restaurants around the perimeter.
