From the dorms of Building A at Slippery Rock University to the mountain backdrop of Greenville, South Carolina, with MANY stops in between. When we moved into our freshmen dorms for college, little did we know that our future forever lived a few doors down. In fact, there were very few conversations between the two of us during that first year. After many blurry nights and a few questionable decisions during our initial college years, three years later we ventured into what was initially a "fling". A few doors down the hall had turned into a short jaunt across the lawn of an off campus apartment complex. Due to sharing many of the same friends, this budding relationship was kept in hiding for a short period of time.....which then turned into a few months until we were "official". Fast forward a few more years in life, and we both have completed our SRU undergrads, drudged through three years of physical therapy grad school, moved to Greenville, South Carolina, started our careers, and bought our first home. Closing in on eight years together, it seemed like it was now or never to commit to forever. -Eric
On what was supposed to be a day trip to Asheville for a little leaf peeping and beer drinking, Eric planned a short hike to the amazingly scenic Pinnacle Overlook in Craggy Gardens, just a blind turn off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We took in the view with several other onlookers while Eric stalled by wandering the area surrounding the rock wall barrier. I now realize he was waiting for the strangers around us to leave us with a private moment. It was then, he was able to carry out the rest of his plan. Finally alone, he pulled out a tripod he had been suspiciously carrying and placed it on a rock, for what I thought was a timed selfie with the beautiful backdrop. As we stood there smiling at the camera, all the while it was recording what was about to become the moment I've played out in my head a thousand different times. (Along with truly legitimate dreams of how he would one day pop the question, having me check my finger as I awoke to see if the dreams were ever real.) It all came spinning into focus when, down on one knee, he shakily asked me the words I've been dreaming of hearing. I wasn't even patient enough to let him finish before saying a resounding, "YES!" No matter how may times I had dreamt about that day, nothing will compare to the beautiful moment frozen in time forever thanks to the foresight to press record, (Which I may just rewatch on a weekly basis for the rest of forever). The bliss continues as we share our excitement with friends and family who've all been so impatiently waiting for this day alongside us. -Britt
