Tyler and Bohannon had been in dog training for several years, finally making it to the advanced class. Shiloh was afraid of her own shadow so Megan (their wonderful dog trainer) advised that maybe she needed to build some confidence and suggested she join a class with “well behaved dogs”. In the first class, Shelby and Shiloh observed while she ate cheese cubes and hot dogs (the ONLY treats she would eat). Bohannon played the perfect golden boy doing all the tricks Tyler commanded on demand. First impressions: Tyler- “This boujee chick is feeding her dog fancy treats?!?!” Shelby- “HOT LUMBERJACK!”

They became friends during COVID, working on projects at each other’s houses and continuing dog training! Benson finally got to join too! Yard drain: Tyler offered to help install a French drain in Shelby’s yard to drain excess water away from her house. He had an ulterior motive- learn how to do it for his future house. Buying a house: Tyler bought his first house. He and Shelby worked on multiple projects including painting kitchen cabinets and yet again, another French drain! During the friend phase they learned how well they worked together, shared their love of their pups and ate a lot of DoorDashed meals!

After a few attempts to get Tyler’s attention in dog training class or at Armored Cow, Shelby finally left a note on his car with her number. He texted and shortly after Shelby asked to go on a date. They made plans to go to Eagle Gun Range and get Mexican food. On the way to the gun range Tyler got a text from work (as he was on emergency call duty) and had to leave the date to take care of business. They never had an official first date but had already become good friends and spent time together working on their houses, at dog training or sipping brews at Armored Cow.

While Shelby was in Mexico with friends, Tyler was going in for a deviated septum surgery. Long story short, the surgery didn’t happen and Tyler had a life altering event. As soon as Shelby found out, she rushed back from Mexico and straight to the hospital to be there for Tyler. When Tyler finally came to, he asked Shelby to be his girlfriend.

Tyler and Shelby’s relationship grew quickly. With a deep foundation in friendship, the next part was easy. They spent time together with friends, met each other’s families, played with their pups and went on amazing trips! In March 2023, Tyler added Millie to the family and in May, Shelby & her pups moved in with Tyler and his!

Shelby and Tyler went to the Martinsville NASCAR race with friends and spent time tailgating before the main event. Just as they prepared to head into the race Tyler got down on one knee and said “Let’s go full redneck!” Shelby said “What?” And Tyler responded “Will you marry me?” with a beautiful ring! Shelby said “Yes!!!” Needless to say, it was a GREAT race!!
