Like any loving girlfriend, Haley wanted to spoil Joe for his birthday. This year wasn't just any birthday though, it was the BIG one - his 30th!! Joe had mentioned a Chicago Cubs game with friends would be a great way to spend his 30th so Haley went to work planning the day, inviting friends, and *trying* to keep it under the radar so Joe wouldn't figure out the plan. As fate would have it, the weekend of Joe's birthday was the weekend the Cincinnati Reds (Haley's hometown team) were in town. Once that information was known, Haley knew she had to invite both sides of the families to come celebrate… It was shaping up to be a truly memorable occasion. Meanwhile, Joe started putting the pieces together that friends and families would be coming in town and figured it was the perfect opportunity to propose! When would be the next time both families were together? With that, Joe started planning his own surprise. He enlisted the help of friends to plan a fake "birthday brunch" before the game. Spoiler alert: Haley was not very excited to be brunching before an All-You-Can-Eat game so she missed every giveaway of what was about to come. The walk to brunch was nice, but quiet as both Haley and Joe were internally freaking out, hoping their individual surprises would go off without a hitch. About a block from the restaurant Joe's demeanor changed and all at once he blurted "you're not the only one with a secret this weekend!" A whole three minutes later (although to Haley seemed like an eternity) Joe dropped to a knee and Haley said yes! The restaurant Joe proposed outside of just so happened to be where they had their first date at a couple years prior. After the shock wore off, it was time to celebrate at the Cubs game with all the friends and family who came in town for the occasion. It was a magical weekend and Haley and Joe wouldn't have been able to surprise each other without the help of their loved ones.
