WE GETTIN’ MARRIED

Why Stubblefest?

Bo and Mathilde incorporate music into everything they do. Whether they’re cleaning the Tiny House, cooking gourmet meals/ordering Magazine Street pizza delivery, Blue Biking around the streets of New Orleans or following the The Avett Brothers band around Texas like groupies, Bo and Mathilde always have a charged speaker they are not afraid to play on high volume. What better way to say I DO than to have a music festival themed wedding!? Anyone who knows Bo and Mathilde is well aware that they love all things festival related. They love the huge crowds, in which Bo will inevitably make a friend and Mathilde will find a baby to oogle. They love pretending to know how to swing dance or two-step. They love waiting in long lines for festival food and drink, of which Bo will have one bite and Mathilde will consume the rest. They especially love the varied genres of music and the energy of a fabulous live performance. They smile so much their cheeks hurt. And so, STUBBLEFEST! Why choose only one band when there are so many talented musicians in the city? Get ready for a Spanish-inspired cocktail hour with the Vivaz Trio, first dances to the classic New Orleans Dixieland Jazz band, Dinosaurchestra, and even more celebrating with some "soul pop" tunes from the killer local band Miss Mojo (Tulane grads!). The passed fest food will adapt to and vibe with the music sounds. And the wedding cake... will be chocolate.

Two Crazy Crawdads

It all started at a crawfish boil...

Sunday January 24, 2016 was supposed to be a casual backyard crawfish boil. Having just moved to the Big Easy in August for his UMC emergency residency, Bo was still finding his groove in the crazy city. So when some new friends invited him over for a crawfish boil, he said “duh!" Bo loves spicy things and drinking beer - both of which define a good crawfish boil - so what did he have to lose? Little did he realize... his heart! Mathilde was in the middle of her first trial and could finally take a break for the night. She went downstairs and into the backyard of her apartment to join her roommates for a crawfish boil they spontaneously decided to have (this was a common occurrence and always a welcome one). She rolled up her sleeves and dove right in, cracking jokes with the group and finally unwinding. “Hi, my name’s Bo,” said the newcomer after a time. “I’m Mathilde... basically French Matilda,” Mathilde replies. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t love at first sight. But it was the start of something new. Bo spent much of his first Mardi Gras with his new friends, including Mathilde. They went to Mom’s Ball and Bacchus Ball and Lundi Gras and Bywater Mardi Gras and the Rex Ball. It was A LOT. Bo sent Mathilde some new music and Mathilde listened to every song. They talked about funny things and important things and shared experiences and thoughts and hopes and dreams. Their infectious enthusiasm left each of them only wanting more. The friendship evolved into love in no time at all. It consumed and terrified and delighted them. Perhaps because neither were looking for the love of their life, when it showed up unannounced they knew they had to hold on tight. And today their hold remains strong! They made a home with their yellow lab, Ella. They planted a ridiculously adorable herb garden. They built a fire pit and throw epic Halloween parties. They met each other’s families and loved ones. And they can’t wait for what the future holds.
