Visiting Asbury

The Wedding Website of Stuart Luther and Joel Hamel
We are excited to share one of our favorite towns with you. Asbury Park is a vibrant growing community with a rich history dating back to the 1800s when as many as 600,000 people a year vacationed in the area. Of the many notable and wonderful things in Asbury's history, the most meaningful is that during the late 50's, 60s, & 70s, if you were LGBTQ, Asbury Park was a place that you could come to 'be yourself'. The area was a safe haven for the LGBTQ community when they were not accepted for who they were elsewhere. Now, it is thought that the same community that came here to be their true selves are responsible for the area's revitalization since the turn of the century. So, while you are here we hope that you embrace the enduring spirit of Asbury Park by being your true authentic self and loveing each other for being just that.
