How We Met

08/30/2018 - First comes wine, then comes marriage...

In August of 2018, Mike and Sara happened to come across each other on a charming little dating app called Bumble. They decided to meet up at Lucas Confectionery, a wine bar in Troy for their first date.  Enraptured by the ease and quality of their conversation, the hours flew by and they realized they were the last ones there as employees mopped up, ever so subtly nudging them out of the restaurant. This evening marked the beginning of a partnership that would change their lives forever. Even during that first date, they both just knew that they’d found their person.

The Proposal

05/22/2020 - Beaches and Sushi

It was the spring of 2020.  Mike and Sara had just closed on their first home together in Brunswick. They decided to take a long weekend on Cape Cod with family to relax.  Mike’s only request for the weekend was that they spend some time together taking a walk on Ridgevale beach, Sara's favorite beach on the Cape.  Little did Sara know that Mike had something sparkly packed in his suitcase.   On Friday, May 22nd, Sara suggested having a nice sushi dinner, her favorite meal in her favorite place.  Mike decided that this should be the day he proposes, knowing that there would be no better celebratory dinner to follow such a momentous occasion.  To ensure that the proposal would be everything Sara dreamed of and more, Mike recruited the help of Sara’s mom Cathy to ensure that her nails were manicured—while the girls enjoyed some sunshine on the deck painting their nails, Mike was preparing himself for the biggest ask of his life.  He put the ring in his pocket and suggested that they take that walk on the beach before dinner.  Hand in hand, Sara and Mike took to the shore to enjoy the peaceful sights and sounds of the ocean. Desperately grasping for a diversion of Sara's attention, Mike pointed over her shoulder at one of the sprawling mansions along the coast, and said, “Hey, isn't that where Oprah lives?” (knowing very well that wasn't the case).  Sara, confused, looked in that direction, and by the time she’d turned back around, Mike was down on one knee.  He was holding a gorgeous customized ring featuring her mom’s diamonds framing a beautiful Chatham sapphire, a lovely coincidence as it matches the name of this Cape town where Sara had spent so many joyous days. Of course Sara said yes!

Our Wedding and COVID-19

Although we hope that plans for our wedding will unfold as we've envisioned, we acknowledge that we live in a world that is constantly changing. As our wedding day draws near, we will take into consideration the possible impacts that COVID-19 may have on our event. We will keep everyone informed if any changes need to be made to ensure our guests' safety and well-being.

For all the days along the way
