A Story God Was Writing All Along

Lamentations 3:22-23

We grew up just twenty minutes apart, Josh in Lake Highlands and Katelyn in Richardson at J.J. Pearce, never knowing that the person God was preparing for us was already so close. Josh was deeply rooted at Watermark through its high school ministry, and years later, God would lead Katelyn into that very same place, quietly weaving our stories together. Even with many mutual friends and overlapping worlds, our paths never crossed. Looking back, it’s humbling to reflect how God was at work long before we ever noticed, quietly weaving threads we couldn’t yet see. Our story truly began on an ordinary workday that turned out to be anything but ordinary. While Katelyn was working a shift at Tecovas, a former employee, Lynsey Davis, stopped by for what was supposed to be a quick hello. That fifteen-minute visit, and the simple decision to work that specific shift, became the doorway God used to bring us together. After only a few weeks of friendship, Lynsey began encouraging Katelyn to go on a date with her brother, Josh. Even though Katelyn was hesitant and going on a few dates with someone else at the time, God gently persisted. Eventually, a meeting at Katy Trail Ice House led to Josh getting Katelyn’s number, and from that moment on, our lives began to intertwine in ways only God could orchestrate. Josh officially asked Katelyn out at Red River, two weeks later, dancing to Tennessee Whiskey. A moment that still makes us smile. Almost immediately after, Josh had just one week before leaving for a three-month trip to Denver and Spain. Beginning our relationship long-distance was challenging, but it became a season where God deepened our trust, refined our patience, and strengthened our foundation. Through distance, hard conversations, and moments of growth, the Lord proved Himself faithful again and again. When Josh returned in November of 2024, God graciously brought us into the same city and into a new season together. Living in Dallas, Josh continued his work at Deloitte, while Katelyn attended Dallas Theological Seminary. Learning how to walk side by side after months of distance was both a joy and a refinement. Dating became one of the sweetest seasons we’ve shared, marked by laughter, intentionality, and growth, but it was not without its challenges. In every high and low, the Lord remained faithful, teaching us to rely on Him, extending grace toward one another, and steadily strengthening our relationship as we sought to honor Him. This story is not ultimately about chance or timing; it is about a God who sees, who leads, and who lovingly writes stories far greater than we could imagine. We have experienced His faithfulness through every season, and we are continually amazed by the way He has drawn us closer to Himself and to each other. As we step into this next chapter, our hearts are full of gratitude. We are honored to celebrate alongside the people who have prayed for us, supported us, and witnessed God’s hand in our lives. Above all, we give thanks to the Lord who brought us together and continues to make all things new.
