We met the night before Halloween, Kayla was dressed up as a zebra coming back to the dorms from a costume party bonfire, and Christian was talking to one of our friends in the hallway. Kayla stopped to talk with them. Christian's roommate at the time, Tristan (Best Man), picked up on something between us, so he left us alone to watch a movie together. Not long after, our first date was coffee and bowling. Since then there have been plenty of movies watched and adventures had.

Christian bought the ring and carried it on dates where he thought the moment for a proposal would arise. He did that for months. The right moment never happened, or when it did he didn't have the ring. We were on vacation in Canada, and Niagara Falls was one of our stops. We walked the Canadian side, and Christian almost proposed there, but his jacket pocket got stuck! We finished walking and he suggested we check out the US side. Back at the car, he had to cut open his pocket with a pocket knife. We crossed the border and walked to the other side of the falls. As we took in the view, Christian said, "I think this is the spot," and knelt down and proposed! We celebrated in Toronto with cocktails and a cheese platter at a local restaurant, and told family and friends once we returned home.
