At the restaurant where their first date occured, Peter gathered 40 of his and Cassandra’s family and friends for a birthday dinner. After dinner, everyone gathered outside along with Peter to wait on Cassandra to exit. As she walked out of the restaurant, she looked up to see a crowd of people and a pathway layered with pink rose petals (her favorite color!). The path led to Peter on one knee and a banner that read “Cassandra Desiree Will You Marry Me?!”. She walked to the end of the path to embrace Peter as he asked for her hand in marriage! And of course she said YES! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Chicago!
Although our families have known each other a long time, it took years for Peter and I to meet. Our paths finally crossed in January 2016 when we were introduced by his brother, Romell. After Peter added me on Facebook, my family teased that Peter had a crush, but I didn’t believe it. A few months later, my brother-in-law, Roy, told me Peter did in fact like me. I hated the idea of dating a minister. Let’s be honest, being a ministers wife is a ministry within itself, and one I wasn’t willing to sign up for. So to me, that book was closed before it even opened. But then, something interesting happened. Peter asked Roy for permission to court me. It was something I specifically prayed for. I asked God for a husband that would be as serious as I am about dating; someone who saw courtship so sacredly that he’d ask to pursue me out of respect. I trusted God and we had our first date that July. We had some things in common, but we also had a lot of differences. I even told him I wasn’t who he was looking for before we even became a couple! But still, Peter was patient and persisted. I let him know I was a virgin, that didn’t believe in premarital sex and that I wouldn’t kiss him until he was my boyfriend. Peter wanted to please God, so he agreed. We courted for 6 months without kissing or holding hands! But finally, at the end of 2016, he asked me to be his girlfriend. For the next two years, we built our relationship around the Lord. We’ve had highs and lows, but it was all necessary to prepare us for today. Like Peter says, God loves a good story! I’m grateful to God for Peter and I’m so excited to marry my best friend! Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Please continue to pray as we enter this sacred union! #StovallWilliamsTheSequel #WontHeWilliams
What a journey it’s been! Our families have known each other for so long that we were always close enough to touch but never had the privilege to meet. God kept us apart until HE was ready to put us together. Once we finally did met, I’ve never been able to shake my fascination with Cassandra’s (My Desiree’s) spirit and smile. I spent a while crushing on Sandy before we ever had a one on one conversation. I wasn’t sure if she was taken so I sat back did my research and prayed. When we finally exchanged numbers and got a chance to talk my crushing only got worse. After only a few weeks of getting to know each other Sandy tried to break up with me and we weren’t even a couple. LBVS! I simply told her that I wasn’t going anywhere because God hadn’t told me to. And I’m so glad He didn’t. Along the way we took our time getting to know each other and at every step we’ve tried our best to honor God. We dated for six months and and officially became a couple and had our first kiss in Dec. 2016. We’ve had our ups and downs but there’s nothing about our journey that I would change. From winning Sandy’s heart with God’s help, to breaking up, to God putting us back together, to asking my crush to be my wife at the place we had our first date, I’m so grateful to God, for all the things He has done. From the moment we met it’s been abundantly clear that God loves good stories. No one would’ve picked me for you, nor you for me. But I’m so glad we left the choosing up to HIM. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives growing in and glorifying HIM. I asked my crush to marry me and SHE SAID YES! #StovallWilliamsTheSequel #WontHeWilliams
