Our Love Story

A Snapchat “hello” message that lasted forever

Giovanni and Natalie first met in seventh grade and graduated high school together, passing the hallways with nothing more than a quick “hello”. Three years after graduating, Giovanni became "friends" with Natalie on Snapchat and sent a "hello" message. Natalie was surprised and remembered how sweet he was during high school. Giovanni and Natalie found the time in their busy schedules to reconnect with texts and FaceTime calls. They spent that summer creating fun and carefree memories. Natalie shared small stories about Giovanni with family and friends, but no official announcements were made. They continued to build their friendship for quite a few months. In January 2019, Natalie and her father vacationed in Australia for three weeks. Giovanni was thrilled for Natalie’s adventures, however, frequently asked, "When are you coming home? I miss you". On February 2, 2019 Giovanni gave Natalie a belated birthday gift, a pair of sparkly sneakers with a note, "A special gift for a girl I'd like to call mine". The next six years were spent finding themselves, as partners and individuals, loving and supporting each other through college graduations, career changes, loss, job promotions, first apartments and the unexpected - life. Natalie and Giovanni packed their bags for Barcelona, Spain to celebrate cousin Cailyn and Sebastian’s love story wedding, meanwhile, Giovanni had planned a few surprises of his own. On the morning of September 2, 2025, they headed out to meet their tour guide for the Sagrada Familia, a Roman Catholic basilica, designed by architect Antoni Gaudi. Giovanni leads Natalie into a local park, explaining the tour guide was at a nearby restaurant. Natalie is clueless and follows his lead. Giovanni later admitted he was nervous Natalie was going to request to see the tour guide location coordinates. Giovanni stopped in a dirt pathway and they notice a bride and groom taking professional photos. Seconds later, Giovanni distracts Natalie, “Look a coin!” and points to the floor behind her. Natalie finds joy in finding coins and becomes laser focused on locating this mystery coin. Seconds later, Giovanni is kneeling on one knee and a secret photographer captures the moment, “Natalie Marie Criniti, will you marry me?” Natalie and Giovanni are a passionate, honest and dedicated pair. They have this intense, firey, snappy passion that doesn’t hold back regardless of who’s around. May this passion bring them a lifetime of happiness and strength to overcome life’s challenges. In case you were wondering, 1.) no there was no mystery coin and 2.) they still went on an official Sagrada Familiar tour.
