How We Met

One wedding led to another…

Mike and Brittany first crossed paths on a rooftop in NYC one summer, but didn’t have a chance to chat that night. Years later, they found themselves seated next to each other at their good friends’ wedding reception (perhaps by chance, or perhaps with a little help from the groom ;) That night, they got to know each other better, sharing stories and laughter as if they had known each other forever. Both of them had a feeling like this was going to be something special. On the plane ride home, Brittany was upset that she didn’t get Mike’s number and had no way of contacting him. She wouldn’t stop gushing about him to her friend Adelaide, who nudged her to find a way to contact him. Back in D.C., where Brittany was dancing at the time, she took a leap of faith. With a little help from their friend Mark (the groom) she reached out to Mike, who was living in Dallas. After texting for a little while, he wrote something that made her heart skip a beat: “Would it be crazy to fly to D.C. for a first date?” And the rest is history. Mike eventually moved to D.C. to live with Brittany and her beloved cat, Harry. They shared countless adventures, including a couple of cross-country moves (thanks Mike), and made unforgettable memories together. When Brittany received a job opportunity in Houston, it was a no-brainer for Mike to move with her back to the Lone Star State, continuing their journey side by side. When visiting friends in DC last March, Mike was very adamant about visiting the Cherry Blossoms at peak tourist season. Britt was trying to get out of going because of the crowd, not knowing what Mike had planned. He got her there somehow and walked to a spot deep in the blooms, and surprised her with a proposal in the very place they first called home together.
