I had a friend who was dating a guy from Roxboro, NC and wanted me to go with her and some of his friends to eat and bowl. I did not want to go AT ALL, but my friend thought I should for some reason or another. As soon as we all sat down at the restaurant, this guy at the other end of the table caught my eye. I noticed he was funny, charming, and that he did not have a date with him. I kept quiet as I watched his mannerisms through out dinner and quickly realized this guy wasn't like any other guy I had ever met. We ended up all going bowling afterwards, and my friend had mentioned to Kyle that if he was single, he should talk to me. Kyle immediately grabbed a chair and pulled it up beside him and asked if I wanted to sit. We talked like we had known each other for years and ended up bonding over carbs and terrible bowling scores. And the rest my friend, is history!
Ever since Kyle and I have been together, we have always hosted Thanksgiving at our house. Thanksgiving of 2020 started out no differently than it always did, too many cooks in the kitchen, kids running around, and Coal always underfoot waiting for droppings. Absolutely nothing was out of the norm. As I wait for food to finish cooking, I go into the living room where my sister is and see that Kyle is outside talking to my mom. I immediatly wonder if hes asking her for my hand in marriage which again, normal since I ALWAYS thought thats what he was talking about when I wasnt around. When I see Kyle come back inside, I go outside to see if thats what they were talking about . Im usually pretty good at being able to tell if my mom was fibbing or not. Every time I would mention marriage to her she would always say " No he hasnt asked. Why? Was he supposed to?". I end up going off on a rant about it because I am still pretty upset about a conversation me and my friend Rachel had the night before (Rachel ended up getting me all worked up thinking Kyle wouldnt propose any time soon.). As I am ranting, Kyle is watching me from the window (I had no clue). He knew I was upset about not getting proposed to on the time line I wanted and not Gods timeline. It finally comes time to say the blessing, and someone advises me that my mom wants to do it outside for "social distancing". Again, NOTHING WAS OUT OF THE NORM! We all head outside and Kyle starts the prayer. At the end of his prayer, he says " And may God bless this marriage!". I quickly open my eyes and see that everyone had stepped back in the yard and Kyle was on one knee!
