Avery and Zach met the day before their DPT program started. In an effort to meet their classmates, a group took the train into Philly for the day. On the way back to Arcadia, Avery and Zach sat next to each other on the train, and started talking ever since. Them and their classmates remained close throughout school, with group hangouts, Phillies games, and IM sports. Zach and Avery made it official after a movie date on April 20th, 2022.

After PT school, Zach moved to Lancaster for work with Avery. Since then, they have had multiple dates to Troegs and IronPigs Games. They have also had many trips to Connecticut, and family vacations to Yosemite, Florida, and the OBX. On August 10th, 2025, Zach took Avery on a picnic to Middle Creek (but convinced her to dress nice) before her birthday dinner. He patiently waited an hour before they were by themselves at the pavilion, and told Avery to turn around because he was taking a picture. She turned back and he was down on one knee.
