Ryan and I met through two of our mutual friends, Ashley and Kyle, who were also dating. Ironically enough, I had just moved in with Ashley, and Kyle was roommates with Ryan. After an interesting night out, a little spark had been lit. A few months later, Ryan asked me to go to Taco Tuesday with him. I panicked a bit, I hadn’t been on a “first date” in quite some time. I text Ashley and told her they had to come with. Thank god I did, because I was so nervous and awkward. I definitely didn’t expect to hear from him again. To my surprise I received a text from him before I even got home that night. Now three years later, here we are.
This day did not have the greatest start, anything that could go wrong did. I was trying to take clients while Colton was home, having friends and parents take shifts watching him. It was the day before my birthday and Ryan made dinner reservations that night at The Bistro. There had been a lot of wedding talk the previous weeks, so if anything, I thought he might pop the question at the fancy restaurant. To my surprise, right before my parents were about to leave, Ryan came into the living room with flowers, a card, and Colty bears in tow. When I opened the card it said “To my wife,” but wife was crossed out and he had handwritten fiancé. I was so confused because nothing was in the card and I thought it was some weird joke. As my mom scrambled for her phone, that’s when Ryan got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.
