How We Met

One Summer In Singapore...

It all started with a 24-hour flight across the world. In a school of less than 5000 people, we had never met before despite being a part of similar social circles. However, that would change once applying for an internship abroad program in Asia. The first week of the program we spent touring around Singapore with the other students in our program. We got to know one another & the city we'd be living in for the summer. By the end of the first week, Lucas and I learned that we had many interests in common, mainly traveling while abroad. We decided as a group to visit Thailand for a weekend, but that was not enough traveling for Lucas and I. We were interested in seeing as much of South East Asia as we could. After becoming official Singaporean residents, our first trip abroad was to Batam, Indonesia. At the end of the first week of work, we booked 2 tickets on a ferry ride across the Straits of Singapore. The following weekend we traveled to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to visit the famous Ben Thanh Market. Next we were off to Phuket, Thailand with the rest of our group. We rented an AirBnb on the beach, hiked to a waterfall, and visited a sanctuary for rescued and retired elephants. Our last trip, we visited Desaru Beach, Malaysia. After a summer in Singapore, we headed back to Butler excited to see what the future held for us.

Our Engagement

One Summer in Europe...

After graduation we decided to take a break for the summer before starting our jobs. We had been all over South East Asia and a few islands in the Caribbean, but were looking for our next adventure together. We decided on Europe. In our typical style, we couldn't just stay in one spot either. So we planned a trip to visit six countries along the Mediterranean. Our first stop was Barcelona, Spain. We spent the first day wandering around the city & eating tapas. The next morning we both woke up early excited to start the day. We didn't have any plans, but Lucas said he found a beautiful park that we should go see first thing. So we got ready and headed out. Thinking we weren't in any rush, I was stopping to look and take pictures of everything. Once we were within sight of the park, Lucas started rushing saying we should really get going. We're practically running through the gates of the park when we got to this amazing structure with a pond and gold statues. We stopped to enjoy the view and when I looked over Lucas was getting down on his knee. I said YES! Lucas had arranged for a photographer to capture the proposal and then have a photoshoot with us in the park. Lucas was in such a rush because we were 30 minutes late and the photographer had been calling thinking we were no-shows. After our photos, we rented a rowboat and Lucas rowed us around the pond while I asked him a million questions. We explored the rest of the park and went back to see that the empty area where we got engaged was filled with hundreds of people. We spent the next three weeks visiting many more new cities and having the time of our lives. Check out the Gallery to see photos from all of our travels!
