It's the obviously well known, age old fairy tale of girl graduates from musical theatre school, girl gets job at midtown dive bar, girl wants to meet her match but is surrounded by only frat boys and beautiful gay men, so girl finds tinder. Boy grows up on Bear Town Road then bops around state to state until he's brave enough to try and make it in "the big city". Boy meets girl five and half minutes into moving to NYC and says to girl "I won't be here long and I'm just looking for friends, but do you want to be my tour guide?" Fast forward six years, boy is still here and girl says "haha, gotcha" <3
Though I (Stevi) am a planner and plotter to the core, I actually had no expectations or idea of how this moment in time would happen. Paul completely blew me away with a surprise proposal on the very same front porch I threw a temper tantrum on at 17 when my parents tried to sell the house. You're welcome, Nance. Now it can never be sold. ;) He started playing a recording of a piano cover he had created for me of the song "I Like Me Better (When I'm With you)" and started to say beautiful words that I was only able to clock and listen to half way into getting in touch with reality and literally asking "Hold on, are you actually doing this right now?". He nodded, I listened, and he got down on one knee while my parents sneakily videotaped the shebang through a crack in the blinds inside. I said yes (actually I think 'Oh my God, yeah!') then my extended fam stormed the scene within 7.5 minutes (as we do). We were able to see Paul's family the next weekend and it was the best start of a summer (and life) ever.
