August 14, 2022 Both of our families had been traveling to the Bahamas for years, but fate had other plans for us in 2022. At the Atlantis Casino in Nassau, Matt was playing blackjack at the same table as my brother-in-law (who also happens to be named Matt). When I walked up to the table and our eyes met, the very loud casino went silent. It was late, the kind of late when the night quietly turns into morning. Instead of heading back to his room, Matt stayed, and for the next three hours we talked, laughed, and wandered the casino together. Somewhere between the cards and the conversation, I remember thinking, wow… this guy is really special. Before we parted ways, he asked for my number. He flew back to New York the next day, while I stayed in the Bahamas a little longer, but the distance didn’t last. When I received his first message, my heart skipped a beat. Soon, that message turned into nightly FaceTime calls that somehow stretched into eight-hour long conversations. Not long after, I hopped on a (very glamorous LIRR) transfer train to Patchogue to see him in person again. From that moment on, we were inseparable. Three years later, Matt brought me back to the Bahamas, right where it all began, and asked me to marry him. Turns out, the best gamble we ever took was finding each other.
Playing our own version of "Name That Tune" :)
I’ve never been the biggest fan of Valentine’s Day, but from the moment we met, Matt made it his personal mission to change that. One thing he knew for sure? I am a big Stevie Nicks fan. So when she was playing at UBS Arena on February 14, 2024, Matt surprised me with tickets. What followed was one of the most unforgettable nights of my life, pure magic and something I never imagined I’d get to experience. We sang Edge of Seventeen at the top of our lungs the entire way home, completely lost in the moment and each other, convinced we were in our own private concert! Turns out, Valentine’s Day isn’t so bad after all :)
Anywhere with beautiful beaches!
We have been very lucky to dine at some incredible places, however I must say, Matt made me a curry from scratch one night .... and it was probably one of the best things I've eaten just relaxing at home. And yes, he is quite the chef in the kitchen!
We packed up our Port Jefferson apartment and made a very casual decision to drive across the entire United States, HA! No big deal. It wasn’t until it was over that we realized we had just pulled off one of the biggest (and best) adventures of our lives together. In two weeks, we logged 3,100 miles, crossed 21 states, survived questionable snacks, long playlists, and zero turning back moments. Along the way, we explored underground caverns in Virginia, survived a winter vortex, explored the beautiful Carolinas, squeezed into a tiny house in North Georgia, toured Graceland in Memphis, rode mules down the Grand Canyon (yes, really), and wandered the desert in Joshua Tree. Somewhere between the wrong turns, the laughs, and the “are we still in the same state?” moments, we realized that if we could conquer a cross-country road trip together… we could pretty much conquer anything <3
What's important to us, our family and friends. And spending time with the people we love most. (You all!) We can't wait to celebrate our big day with you and so thankful to have you apart of it. <3
