The day started like any other that week as Josh, Alex, and Mike sailed to James Island in the San Juan Islands. Little did any of them know God’s plan for that evening. Service was poor and the boys still had work to do, so Josh and Alexandra decided went in search of better internet connection on the other side. They found it along with a beautiful view and a picnic table. After taking a few photos the couple reported back. The boys decided to take computers onto the island and work while Alex chose some quiet time. When Josh and Mike climbed back aboard they told Alex that they should take some pictures and look nice because it was a beautiful day and island, plus Josh needed a new LinkedIn profile picture. Alexandra, always ready for a photoshoot, found the best clothes for the job. Mike “still had some work to finish,” so he took the laptop and Josh’s phone to hotspot and headed back. Then, with no makeup and clothes slightly worn, Josh and Alex stepped off the boat, taking a couple pictures before joining Mike. They walked up the hill into the trees to the other side of the island. Alex noticed that Mike’s computer was on the picnic table with Mike nowhere to be seen. As they neared she noticed it was actually her computer that Josh had borrowed earlier. She wondered if he left her computer outside. Something seemed off, and when Josh led Alexandra to sit at the picnic table in front of the computer she knew what was really happening. Josh pushed play on a slideshow of pictures and the song “God Bless the Broken Road,” but before the song ended Joshua stood up and held her hands. Then, kneeling, he held out a navy blue box containing a ring and asked her a very important question. “Will you marry me?” “Yes!” Mike captured the proposal in photos. Later Alexandra came to find Josh and Mike hatched this plan while working at the picnic table. God’s plan is perfect, and sometimes not knowing makes His timing and the nudge a spontaneous moment to remember.
