At UCSC we had the same section and David was TA's pet (little did anyone know they were just friends from before) and the nerdy boy with the horrible blue glasses. Krystal was the cute girl who smiled and waved (to like everyone) and was friends with the smart girl, Becca. So when it came time for a project, they ended up in a group together (of an intimate 13 or so). David led the team, Krystal did her part and backed out. But from this they became friends on Facebook. Fast forward about a year and Krystal becoming single, David needed a date to a fancy event. He obviously asked the best combo of "looks-good-in-a-cocktail-dress" and "can-hold-conversation" when he reached out to Krystal. Krystal of course said no and trying to get him to go away, mentioned she had better things to do with her Saturday nights - volunteering with the Sea Otter Research and Conservation team at Monterey Bay Aquarium rehabilitating sea otters. David became more intrigued and mentioned his Saturday night team at the Marine Mammal Center where he rehabilitated seals and sea lions. After awhile of chatting, David was trying to leave as it was finals week and he had a lot of studying to do, saying that his stories were better in person. Krystal said she was available for coffee if he had photos. After finals, they went on their first date. Krystal's friend Becca talked her into going, despite his horrible glasses. Five years later, here we are! (And David has learned to pick out better glasses.)
