We are so excited to celebrate with you!

Steven and Kaitlyn became friends through their mutual friend group at the beginning of their freshman year of high school in 2015. Steven and Kaitlyn went to their school's Halloween movie night with a few of their friends, which is where they first met. Their friend group also met up at their school's Homecoming in October, where Steven asked Kaitlyn to dance! Soon after the dance, Kaitlyn asked Steven for his phone number and invited him to her family's annual Halloween party. For a while, Steven and Kaitlyn were just two friends with crushes, but in February of 2016, Steven asked Kaitlyn to be his date to their Winter Formal dance. After that, the rest was history!

After graduating high school, Kaitlyn went to college at the University of Northern Colorado, while Steven stayed in California to begin his carpentry career. After having to do long distance for what felt like forever, Steven decided to join Kaitlyn in Greeley, Colorado in August of 2020 where they moved into their first apartment together! Steven continued working as a carpenter as Kaitlyn finished her degree in Elementary Education. While living in Colorado, Steven and Kaitlyn got to go on countless adventures together, including camping in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, visiting Arches National Park in Utah, exploring Rocky Mountain National Park, and so much more!

In November of 2022, Kaitlyn and Steven traveled to North Carolina where they met both of their families for Thanksgiving. Little did Kaitlyn know, Steven was traveling with a ring in his suitcase! Both of their families were staying on the beach of Topsail Island, which is where Steven knew he wanted to propose. Wanting a pretty scenery, Steven was planning to propose at sunset on November 22nd. On the 21st, Steven checked the weather forecast and saw that it was going to be cloudy on the night of the 22nd, which would ruin the pretty sunset. Worried about the weather, Steven woke up early on the 22nd to check the clouds at sunrise...It was perfect! He knew that this might be his only chance, so he woke up Kaitlyn around 7:00am so they could "go watch the sunrise on the beach". Steven also woke up Kaitlyn's brother, Casey, so he could "take pictures of the sunrise". Not thinking anything of it, Kaitlyn rolled right out of bed and put on her best pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt (hahaha). Steven and Kaitlyn walked down to the beach while Casey secretly took pictures! As they were walking along the sand, Steven waited for the perfect moment to make his move. Needing some help, Casey told Kaitlyn to turn around to face the sunrise so that he could "adjust his camera settings". As Kaitlyn faced the opposite direction, Steven got down on one knee. Turning around, Kaitlyn had the biggest smile on her face as Steven asked her to marry him. After saying the biggest "YES!", the three of them walked back to the house where their families secretly watched from the window. A bottle of champagne was popped and everyone celebrated the newly engaged couple! Later that day, Steven's mom, Shannon, was walking along the beach and found a shell with a perfect heart shape in the middle of it! Some things are just meant to be...
