Six years ago a series of amazing, fortunate events happened that all began when Steve had been invited by an fellow cadet in his Spanish class to stay at his friends apartment during an overnight that they earned for volunteering the next day for the local elections. Luckily, this happened to be the apartment of one of Summers "soon to be" sorority sisters and it was also their initiation night. It was here late that night that we met. We like to think that "history" is what made our fortunate events happen. Summer had to study for a history exam and was struggling to study and have her sisters initiation night at the same time. Steve saw me struggling and decided to help me study even though he had to be up in 4 hours to help with a volunteering event. After talking and studying until the early hours of the morning we forgot to exchange each others numbers and didn't hear from each other for weeks. We tried everything to get a hold of each other and even asked our mutual friends about each other to get in touch. We finally connected by finding each other on (of course) Facebook beginning what has been 6 years of love, laughter, and soon-to-be happily ever after.
We have to go back couple weeks from the proposal. Summers Memaw had wanted her to have her wedding ring set. Her Papa had told me for the past two years that when I was ready that he would give it to me to give to Summer. A few weeks before our anniversary, as promised, I gave him a call and a week later her Papa and uncle drove down to Charleston to make the exchange. Using work as a cover for their visit we met and had dinner where her papa snuck me the ring. Fast forward a week and the morning of our anniversary I was a nervous wreck. I had no idea if Summer knew what was gong on or not. We spent a great morning eating brunch and enjoyed Downtown Charleston. After a carriage ride through the historic district I took summer through the market where I think she began to think something was going on. We made our way to the waterfront park and took Summer to her favorite spot the Pineapple fountain, where Steve got down on one knee and finally popped the question and of course the answer was .... YES !!!
