At the time, neither of us officially called it a "date", but we both hoped that it was one. First, we went indoor rock climbing, then we went to see The Woman in Black 2. It should probably be mentioned that Miriam hates heights and Steven hates horror movies. All in all, in was a good day and a successful "first time hanging out alone together".
We danced around each other for a long time. Her friends kept telling her Steven liked her. His friends kept telling him Miriam liked him, but neither of us really believed them. We were spending time together and pretty much acting like a couple anyway, until one day at the TU homecoming bonfire, she’d had enough. She took my phone, opened Facebook and told me to change my relationship status. We’ve been happily dating ever since.
To hide the fact that he was going to pop the question, Steven suggested that we have a birthday party for our kittens and have people over just to hang out. He gave me a "World's Best Cat Mom" mug that I thought was the whole gift. Turns out, the tissue paper I almost threw away had a little surprise inside. A ring box! I still can't believe none of the guys spilled the beans. Somehow, I managed to shake my head yes through the happy tears.
