What is Israeli Memorial Day?

April 24 in the evening & ends April 25th in the evening) begins with a siren at 8 PM to commemorate the fallen Israeli soldiers and civilian victims of terrorism. The entire country will come to a standstill and have a moment of silence that will last for one minute. There is a second siren on April 25th at 11 AM for two minutes. The 24th is a regular day leading up to the siren at 8 PM. Stores and restaurants are open but do not expect a party or lively nightlife scene. What is Israeli Independence Day?

This year is Israel's 75th birthday, due to this milestone there are expected to be a lot of diaspora Jews visiting the country, this is why it is important to book your hotel ASAP. On April 25th, Memorial Day ends at sunset and immediately transitions into a celebration. This transformation is like no other, the cities will open up into massive block parties, events, and live shows. Feel free to browse around the city and party! Important - April 26th is a holiday and generally, stores and restaurants are closed. There may be a few stores open, but people are typically either out BBQing or on the beach.
