In November of 2024, two people—guided by curiosity, courage, and a dating app that clearly understood the assignment—found their way to one another. Our first date happened on December 6th in Richmond, Virginia, over a paint-and-sip. He arrived an hour early (eager, prepared, and taking no chances). I arrived five minutes late (traffic, man). The universe, amused by our timing, gifted us something better than a perfect schedule: extra time. We spent it wandering an outdoor shopping area, talking without rushing and laughing without trying. By the time we picked up our paintbrushes, something already felt easy. Natural. Right. And then we did the impossible—we painted some genuinely great paintings. But more importantly, somewhere between brushstrokes and shared smiles, we quietly laid the foundation for something much bigger. In January, I met Addie for the first time. He was convinced she wouldn’t really talk to me. Instead, she talked nonstop for eight straight hours, filling the room with stories, laughter, and unmistakable magic. In February, he met Gavin, and without hesitation they launched into wrestling, talking about games, and building LEGO creations together—as if they’d always known each other. That’s when it became clear: this wasn’t just a love story between two people. It was the beginning of a family. What started with a swipe, a paintbrush, and a little extra time has grown into something full, joyful, and deeply rooted—and we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with the people we love most.
