When Kathleen decided to make a major life change in 2018, quit her corporate job in Chicago and travel the world, she decided to sell the home she'd held onto back in Canton Georgia. She reached out to two long-time friends whom she'd taught with years and years ago to see if they'd like to grab dinner while she was in town. Over dinner Amie exclaimed, "we have to introduce you to Steve!" Kathleen immediately declined, "I'm off to travel the world..." The next day, August 27th, Amie and Kathleen made plans to have a house-closing celebratory cocktail. Amie walks into the restaurant and says, "I brought a man and he's not my husband." It was Steve. He had arrived first and stood up to give Kathleen a big hug. From that moment, life has never been the same. Amie's husband did end up joining us and the 4 of us dined and laughed and talked like we had done it for years. We learned that our homes in Canton were less than a mile apart, we shopped at the same grocery stores and shared a very dear mutual friend; yet we'd never met. We parted ways with a hug. Kathleen headed back to Hilton Head the next morning but the next few days were filled with endless text exchanges and long late night conversations. As Kathleen prepared to begin planning her travels, she knew she needed to see Steve....so she asked him on a date - both drove 3 hours to Macon, Ga, a central meeting location. We dined on Cherry Street (fitting) and spent the entire night laughing. Kathleen called her sisters the next day to announce "I'm going to marry that man!" And just like that our love began! We spent the next few months on airplanes to be together before finding our first home in Alpharetta Georgia at the end of 2018. We've been dreaming of each other since we heard our first fairytale and we cannot wait to say our vows in front of the ones who love us!
