We first met while serving the homeless during an outreach with our church. Our conversation was effortless, and we talked like we'd known each other forever. As we were leaving, Steven went to dinner with a friend group, and "the new girl" disappeared altogether. (Who was she?! Steven never even asked the cute girl her name!! Would they ever meet again?) ...Oh, the suspense! Is it killing you? Eventually, there was Instagram stalking and we found each other again, and we discovered that Karie had an actual name. She ended up getting involved with the choir and other church activities. One event in particular was a game night hosted by the singles community, and it was kind of cute to see how Steven always ended up in the seat right next to Karie throughout the entire evening. He slyly asked for her number so he could invite her to his upcoming 30th birthday and then they went on their first date (dinner + an Avengers movie) about two weeks later. It was AMAZING!!! Afterward, Karie cried the whole drive home and told her best friend, "I think he's my person!" Simultaneously, Steven called his best friend and said "Bro, I think that was my last first date!" Not to spoil the ending, but we were both right! From the very beginning, we were both just so impressed by how comfortable we were being ourselves and how naturally everything fell into place. Almost instantly, God revealed his plans to each of us for our future together. We dove into worship and devotion and in the process, we were able to get to know each other more intimately. In a few months' time, our friendship blossomed into a strong and stable relationship built on love. The Lord took his time building us as individuals, while shaping and preparing us along the way. We'd each prayed for one another before we met, but couldn't fathom how God would meet and exceed our expectations. Now that we're together, we're so confident that God has plans for our union and that he'll use us mightily for his purpose.
