We had met through the College-aged ministry at church, and had slowly but surely developed an attraction toward the other. He was outgoing and sweet, she was pretty and smart, maybe something was there. It was one Sunday night at small group; little Ty Taylor was entertaining the room while playing with a purple bouncy ball, when it bounced right up and hit him in the face! We instantly dropped to the ground laughing, looked across, made eye contact, and knew that this was something worth pursuing.
After a month and a half of constant Snapchats, I decided to ask her out. I was advised to keep it casual, so we went to Hurts Donuts at 3 pm. I ordered the Oreo cheesecake and she got the blueberry pie. We finished eating within ten minutes, but still stayed and talked after. After what felt like 45 minutes I checked the time, discovering that it was actually 6. Apparently, being able to talk for three hours without noticing it was a good sign.
A beautiful Sunday afternoon in May, Steven picked me up and told me he forgot a few things at the church building. He needed me to go into the office and boot up the computer real quick, so I complied. Already on the computer was a video and a note telling me to press play. Ed Sheeran's 'Perfect' started playing, and I immediately started crying. Our friends and family had recorded short videos of them describing our relationship, and at the very end he came in behind me and got down on one knee. I was so excited and emotional I didn't know what to do except say yes and hold on for dear life. It's been a whirlwind of a trip, but we can't wait to see you all in January!
