We met while both of us were vacationing in Destin, Florida. I went to Cabana Cafe, and little did I know my future husband would be sitting across the bar. I told my friend that he would be making his way over to us. She asked how did I know, and I said I just know! Lo and behold, here comes charming Steve... We had a few beverages (he had a lot more) and we went to the Beach Bar to have 1 more. We were climbing up the stairs to get a better view of the ocean, and I told him to grab onto my pockets as I knew he was a bit "lit." He missed my pockets and fell down 6 steps. My thoughts were did he fall head over heels for me. At first I laughed, not realizing he may really be hurt. We called it a night and went home. I phoned him in the morning and asked if he remembered me? He said of course.....I asked him how he was feeling and he said he was a bit sore. I went to CVS and bought a wellness kit and taped up his ribs. I called him in the afternoon and he told me that he went to Urgent Care and has 3 broken ribs. I felt so bad for him I just knew he needed Nurse Tammy in his life. Later that evening I had the luxury of meeting more amazing people that I now call family. I would like to give a special thank you to Phil, Debbie, Chris, Brenda, Ray and Terri. With this group and with Steve being in so much pain, they all made sure I had the best time in Destin...... and I DID! Cheers to more great times in the years to come!
On the morning of New Year's Eve 2021, Steve says, Tammy I have a question for you. I turn around and he was down on one knee with a package for me to open. He then pops the question and I wasn't even thinking it was a ring, I said are you serious as I thought it was a joke. He says come on don't leave me down on one knee for too long as I may not be able to get back up. We both laughed and I said yes. It was totally unexpected and it was THE BEST GIFT EVER! After he got back on his feet, we hugged, cried and what made this even more special is when he told me that he asked my father and his daughter for their blessings.
Steve and his buddy built from scratch the cannon that is in Nationwide Arena that The Columbus Blue Jackets fire off when they score.
