Steve and I met on Tinder (best right swipe there ever was). We chatted for a day when for some odd reason I said "let's go get drinks tonight" (it was a Monday morning!) So we arranged a place to meet. He drove over to Scottsdale, where I was living at the time. I remember when I walked in to the bar and saw him sitting there I thought to myself NO WAY this could have been a match from Tinder, he was tall, good looking and had the best clean cut beard (something I'm a sucker for). He greeted me, gave me a hug and we sat there and talked for hours! We not only on our first date discovered we shared the same birthdays but both our mom's names are Wendy. I remember getting home that night about to send him a text saying it was nice to have met him when up popped up a text from him saying he had a great time and looked forward to doing it again. The next day, he sent me a text in the morning saying he held off eating lunch because he had to see me again and wanted to take me to lunch. So, we met up for lunch, and as I was leaving lunch with him I had this weird feeling, I just knew. I called my mom and told her about this guy and I said "I think this is the guy I am going to marry" and we had not even kissed yet!! I remember thinking I was crazy. So of course, from then on, dates continued, I love you's happened, moving in, buying a house, job changes, having our beautiful baby girl and now almost four years later - our wedding.
It was a Saturday, I was on my way back from getting my hair done. Steve called me to see when I would be home and asked what I wanted to do tonight. I remember being exhausted and I said can you please have mac and cheese for me ready when I get home and I am going to take a nap. He said okay, I'll start making it. Next, I was at a stop light and we have the ring doorbell. I kept getting notifications that there is motion at our door. I opened the app and I see Steve sprinting out our front door, didn't think much of it but then I got two more notifications this time he's wearing a different shirt. I just remember thinking to myself what is he doing and maybe he was doing something outside. Well, when I pulled up to our house I opened the garage but noticed there was a note on the garage door. I stopped, got out and grabbed the note...it read "So glad I swiped right" (to understand what that means go read our How We Met story.) I again, didn't really think anything of it but then when I walked up to our door to enter the house there was a note on the ground, one on the door and as I opened the door there was a trail of flower petals leading to our bedrooms with special notes on each one. Right before I got to our bedroom door there was another note that said 'play me' so I clicked play and as I turned to open the door to our bedroom the last note said 'My Wife to be" as I opened the door the song Marry Me by Train started playing and there he was kneeling in a heart shaped of petals holding the engagement ring. I couldn't really tell you what he all said since I blacked out a little but I of course said "YES", and we were engaged. Needless to say, he did not have mac and cheese ready and I was not tired anymore to take a nap. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Phoenix!
