What do you get when a podcaster and firefighter fall in love? Besides a really cheesy Hallmark movie. Well, you get the love story of Landis & Steve. And if we're going to be honest, their love story is a bit Hallmark cheesy too, but better... because it's true! Landis and Steve first met in January 2023 at a quaint coffee shop in Lincoln Park. With this being their first date, they were both approaching this interview with caution. In fact Landis almost canceled their first date altogether. It was raining and cold out, and who wants to leave the house mid day on a Thursday in January to meet some random dude for coffee? After all, they met online and we all know what kind of weirdos are online (cough Steve! cough). Luckily, Landis did show up and the two fell hard for each other, knowing their lives were forever going to change. Soon their completely different worlds were melding into a relationship. Steve's spontaneous, adventurous way of living was joining forces with Landis's glitter and sequins love of life that’s always scheduled. For instance, Steve took Landis camping in the early stages of their relationship, and Landis had never been camping before. Steve, living life on a whim, booked the campsite only 2 weeks before they left. Under normal circumstances this wouldn't had been too much of a big deal, but this was 2 weeks before Memorial Day weekend, which did not leave much to choose from. In fact, the choices were so scarce, that they found themselves driving through an abandoned ghost town near the Tennessee\Georgia border, past a state correctional facility, and up an unpaved road to the top of a mountain, leading to a campsite that had no cell phone service (cue the banjos). Landis, the well thought out planner, nearly called the whole trip off. Instead, she took the couple’s first big step in their relationship by trusting the spontaneous go-with-the-flow bro. It was a good thing she did, because the two of them ended up laughing well into the wee hours every night around a bonfire under a blanket of stars. That trip marked them both knowing this was forever and soon they were taking in Cubs games on random Friday afternoons, dressing up for galas, paddle boarding, and taking their dogs, George and Clark, on long walks every chance they could. It was without question that they had found their forever person. On February 29th, 2024 (Leap Day) Landis and Steve took their leap. That day, they said their I Do's at the Chicago courthouse. We know that so many of you would have loved to have been part of that moment, but when you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start right now. We look forward to sharing the Dance Floor with all of you and creating epic moments to remember for years to come!
