Flying to Athens would be the cheapest way to get to Greece. We booked our tickets through justfly.com We plan to spend a day at Athens before we head out to Mykonos. You can either catch a plane or take a ferry or a speed boat to the island. The flights are about 35 min long and cost about $50-$60. The boats cost about the same, but take a couple hours or so. You can pretend you are on the cruise, grab a little drink, kick back and relax while enjoying the serenity of the sea. :-))

You can fly to most of the islands including Mykonos from USA, but we found the easiest connection and the cheapest way is to fly to Athens by Turkish airlines. If you buy now, you can get the tickets for about $650 a piece.

How to get to Mykonos

If your international flight lands in Athens, to get to Mykonos you can either take another short flight (30-40 min) or take a ferry. Ferry is about 3-4 hours and cost as much as the airplane, BUT you get to see the nature and a few of the Greek islands. It's up to you.
