It all started with one little, harmless question from Jen: “Do you eat your Oreos with or without milk? Also, follow up question that's equally important... Do you soak them in milk or do you still like to eat them while they're crunchy? I need to know this... could be a deal breaker!" Thankfully, Steve understood what was at stake: "OK, super important, Oreos can be a deal breaker... or counterpoint, deal maker? If I answer this right, we just get married and live happily ever after? OK, so, first off, original, single stuff oreos. They had it right the first time, no need for this double stuff nonesense. Then dunked in milk, fully submerged for a 3 count. Enough to be wet, but not soggy, still a little crunch. Then eaten in one bite, no mess. ...how did I do?" Jen's response showed how well Steve had answered the Oreo question: "Sooo when is the proposal going to happen?" What followed next was not a proposal, but a first date at P.F. Chang's. And the rest is history. Well… just kidding. But from there, life quickly turned into one big adventure. Before we knew it, we were hiking, camping, staying in mountain cabins, rafting — including the time Jen supermanned out of the raft, but definitely not to get away — picking lavender, which is obviously Steve’s favorite activity, running 5Ks, BBQing, taking family vacations, biking, kayaking, wine tasting, going to local festivals, pumpkin picking, visiting apple orchards, exploring Renaissance faires, and even taking on home renovations together. In true Steve and Jen fashion, we went to the Georgia Renaissance Faire to celebrate part one of our first anniversary. Steve dressed up in his Renaissance shirt and hat, while Jen went all in with a head-to-toe peasant outfit, horsetail and all. What was supposed to be a simple picture in front of a pretty water fountain and greenery turned into the most beautiful surprise proposal. It was quirky, thoughtful, romantic, and completely us. We’ve had so much fun along the way and our journey is just getting started. We are so grateful for all the love, laughter, and memories that brought us here, and we are so thankful to have you as part of our story. Thank you for being here to celebrate this special day with us.
