Things To Do

We have many great National Parks, Monuments, State Parks all within a short drive or on your way in or out from a major Airport. San Juan Skyway is our Favorite and takes you on a loop from Cortez, through Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride and Dolores. Moab is a two hour drive and has Arches and Canyonlands. If you fly into Albuquerque, you can stop in Santa Fe, Taos and hit a favorite spot of ours- Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. The drive is beautiful and on the way is the town of Pagosa.

Many summer trips on this route brought us to Southwest Colorado. It is worth taking the time to do, some of the most scenic landscapes you will ever see.

Mesa Verde National Park

Tours can be scheduled in advance, the park is about 30 minutes away from us but will take 45 minutes drive to get into the park from the park entrance. Views are incredible!

Durango

Durango, CO

Durango is a fun town filled with great restaurants and brew pubs, hot springs, train to Silverton, river rafting, bike riding along beautiful river path, and shopping. It is about an hour away.

High alpine hiking and fun resort base activities, restaurants and view decks. Then stop a half hour down the road to Durango Hot Springs.

Park Access has to be reserved in advance, and can book up quickly. Two hour drive from our house.

Telluride

The 90-minute drive between our house and Telluride is amazing in the summer, beautiful mountain peaks and great places to pull over for photos. If time permits a day or overnight trip to Ouray with a stop in Telluride is a must.

A favorite for us! Hot Springs, waterfalls, hiking, restaurants, cute shops and Switzerland-like views.

Phil's World Bike Trail

If you’re in to mountain biking, this is some of the best trails anywhere. Bikers travel thousands of miles to ride here.

Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center & Museum

The Visitors Center is just down the road from us and there are several ruins to visit anytime within a 30 minute drive of our house.

Capitol Reef National Park

4 hour drive from the house and close to Zion, highly recommended to do both!

Bryce Canyon National Park

UT

Another favorite, stunning landscape and views. When time permits we try to hit Bryce, Zion and Capitol Reef over a few days.

Natural Bridges National Monument

Two hour drive, tends to be hotter due to lower elevation bur the landscape is incredible.

Lake Powell

4 hour moonscape drive to Bullfrog marina or 3.5 hour drive to Page, AZ. Boat rentals at both locations. It will be hot, but the sunrises and sunsets are mind blowing.

Monument Valley

Two and a half hour drive, beautiful landscape.

Silverton

Historic mining town, two hour drive or take the scenic train ride from Durango. One way on the train and bus back recommended.
