...it just seems odd not to include the wedding venue on the list.
Location for the drinks on Thursday night beginning at 8:30PM--it overlooks the plaza where the Liberty Bell is located, which itself is across the street from Independence Hall. The primary reason we booked this spot is...Morgan really likes the building.
This is where Robin is hosting the Saturday brunch! Stop by anytime between 11:30 and 2:30.
A lovely park close to the Union League and Sofitel.
Great live jazz bar across Sansom Street from the Union League.
Dark little bar near the Union League with suspiciously good lobster rolls.
Israeli cafe and bakery near Rittenhouse (yea it’s Solomonov). Everything we’ve tried is good.
Historic indoor farmer’s market and, for lack of a better term, food court.
What’s funny is that once you get past the Rocky steps, there are so many more stairs inside (see, e.g., the Great Stairs Hall, the Frank Gehry-designed staircase in the Williams Forum that was part of a $200+ million renovation project and bottoms out, inexplicably, into an empty room).
Art museum featuring the incredible personal collection of a guy whose heirs absolutely did not want it to end up in the middle of Philly. It’s worth looking up all that history before visiting.
LUNCH! SANDWICHES!
Walk into the lobby on the east side of the building (facing Independence Hall) to see the world’s largest Tiffany mosaic. It’s a lovely 2-minute stop if you’re in Old City.
Divey spot with pretty good bar food and solid veg/vegan options.
Per its website, Bok is "an old school turned workspace — full of makers, businesses, nonprofits, and artists." It has everything: a buzzy Italian joint on the bottom floor (Irwin's, reservations required), a candlemaker/scentmaster, a roof bar (unparalleled, unobstructed view of Philly skyline), therapists, a bike shop, multiple coffee shops, a literal gymnasium that hosts weddings and flea markets, the bridal boutique where Morgan found her gown (KINFOLK), and the studio where a bona fide aesthete developed our wedding floral design and decor (Texture Florals).
Fantastic izakaya that is terrible for groups.
See the Robert Indiana sculpture IRL at the southeast corner of Arch and N 16th Streets.
Quick, 30-min tour of the establishment where a bunch of guys wrote the document Steve and Morgan have spent years claiming to understand (hint: it’s the Constitution). The $1 tickets are timed, so book online before you visit.
Sadly, our favorite spot for cheesesteaks, Jim’s, is temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire. Since we can’t send you there, it feels necessary to thrust our beloved guests into the middle of the famous Pat’s vs Geno’s debate, and to settle it for you : this is a Pat’s household.
Pizzeria with an ever-evolving natural wine selection in Fishtown. The tomato pie is incredible, and don’t skip the coffee ice cream.
This is where we'll be for the after party once we get kicked out of the Union League reception.
Steve may or may not have grown up going here on at least a weekly basis.
