Steve and I met through our mutual friend, Jennifer Savage, at their work Christmas party on December 17, 2017. I had never seen Steve before, but Jen had shown him pictures of me. On our way to the restaurant (we rode together) she says, “don’t be mad, but I want to introduce you to someone.” Naturally I was irritated, because at the time I wasn’t ready or interested in dating or meeting anyone. Fast forward to us pulling up to the restaurant, I see a handsome man standing outside and laughed saying “who’s that guy, he’s so cute?” Jen laughed and said, that’s Steve! She introduces us as we walk into the building. The entire night, I don’t remember talking or being introduced to anyone else! We had dinner, great conversation, literally talked the entire night, shared a couple dances. He was such a gentleman and really had me so intrigued. I was actually quite concerned…. thinking, how is this guy single? Where’s the red flag? I just couldn’t stop questioning how perfect this guy was and how much we had in common. The next day I even called my mom and said, “I think I met the one! I even told her, I’m gonna marry this guy someday.” I just knew he was my soulmate from the first time I met him.
3 years flew by, and he had been getting pressured by our close friends and family as to when he was going to pop the question. Not going to lie maybe by me a little bit too. LOL Little did I know that my dreams were about to come true. He proposed on November 21, 2020. It was such a unique and beautiful, well thought out proposal. We are both football fans of rival teams. Steve likes the Raiders and I like the Chiefs. We have went to games together at Arrowhead Stadium and at the Oakland Coliseum. When the Raiders moved to Las Vegas we had planned on going to the game there but because of Covid we weren’t able to go. However, we still made the trip to Las Vegas since his family lives there and it was right before Thanksgiving. He told me we were meeting his family and our Best Man James and his kids (who happened to be in Las Vegas) to go check out the new stadium. When we walked up to the main entrance of the Stadium the ground was made up of custom engraved pavers. We started reading all of them. He said, oh my gosh Amie look at that one. As I bent down to read it he got down on one knee behind me. It read “Even though you’re not Raider Nation, you’re the love of my life, Amie will you be my wife? - Steve" I said that's cool she spells her name the same way I do. I turned around saw him on one knee and said "is this real?" as I started to cry. He said "Yes Babe" and proposed to me, of course, I said "YES." Come to find out he purchased the paver back in January and had been planning it for almost a year just brushing it off every time people would ask him when he was going to propose. It was definitely worth the wait I wouldn't have wanted it to happen any other way!
