A 1 in 4.2 Trillion Love Story

In July 2025, the Texas Hill Country was hit with a historic flood — the kind of storm that happens once in a hundred years. Engineers from all over the country were deployed to help, including one civil engineer from Mississippi. Out of just a few thousand civil engineers in the entire state, only a handful were sent to Texas… and he happened to be one of them. Meanwhile, she had just sworn off dating after too many disappointments. Her heart was set on focusing on faith, family, and purpose — not romance. But God had other plans. One evening, after a long day of flood response, he stopped at the H-E-B in Leon Springs. At that exact same moment, in the same parking lot, she pulled in with her black Labrador. Only 2% of couples ever meet by chance in public places — but somehow, their worlds collided in a grocery store parking lot. He noticed her dog, she smiled back, and a simple hello turned into something neither of them expected. They shared a pizza from H-E-B in the parking lot and talked for hours. They discovered they shared the same faith, the same values, and the same heart for family and service. And, in a twist that still makes everyone laugh, they both owned black Labradors — a 1 in 200 chance. By the end of the night, he called his family and said, “I just met my wife.” And he was right. Just a few months later, on November 28th, he asked her to marry him — and she said yes. What began with a flood, a grocery store parking lot, and two black Labs turned into the most unexpected, beautifully orchestrated love story neither of them could have written on their own. Because when God writes the story, the odds don’t matter.
