September 2013 - Ryan and I met at Kate’s Bar and Restaurant at University of Delaware. Ryan asked for my number and I ACCIDENTALLY gave him the wrong number. For a couple weeks after, Ryan would text me with no responses. We then ran into each other again at Grotto’s and hit it off. The phone number was CORRECTED and the rest is history. We spent the remainder of the school year spending nearly every day together. June 2014 - I graudated and by July I had an opportunity to live & work in NYC. Ryan had another year left at University of Delaware. And so our 2-year long distance relationship ensues. We’d make a point of seeing each other at least every two weeks and had lots of fun adventures in NYC. 2016 - Phinally back in the same city! I made my way to Philadelphia for PA grad school and to this day, we both reside in Philly 🤗 June 2019 - Ryan pops the question on my family’s vacation in Avalon. I was sitting in a beach chair by the ocean, my nieces and nephews were climbing on me like a jungle gym, and as I turn to my left, Ryan is getting on one knee. He asked me to marry him and of course I said “yes!”. Contrary to our announcement you may have seen on social media - I hadn’t showered that day, my hair was in a messy bun, I sticky and sweaty from the humidity, 3 kids were struggling to sit in my lap, and to top it off, a million flies were blown from the bayside and swarmed the beach. And you know what?! I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. I call it our perfectly imperfect proposal. We spent the remaining of that day contacting loved ones and sharing the news, getting celebratory drinks, and talking about our future together. We were then able to further celebrate at Ryans family’s vacation in Sea Isle City the following week, which was filled with so much happiness and love. Our families have been so supportive of us and we could not be more thankful to them.
