The first time we saw each other, we were at Galatia Moda Salon (Sterg’s aunts salon). While Sterg was waiting for his aunt to cut his hair, Alexis was there working, as she had been every Saturday since she was 15 years old. While Sterg at the time, was living in England finishing up his Masters in Architecture, he would come very often to see his family and of course get his haircut. Alexis had met his entire family while working at the salon and met most of them before even meeting Sterg. Funny enough, Sterg’s mom and aunt tried to play matchmaker for years and Alexis’ response was always “you never know” little did we all know that “you never know” would eventually turn into an “I do.” Sterg ended up moving to NY and Alexis was finishing barbering school. Eventually, Alexis started cutting his hair at the salon. The first time Alexis cut his hair, he was also with his now best man, Stavros. Shortly after that same day, Alexis’s mom sends her a picture of the two of them at a friends house and said “there’s cute Cypriot boys here your age!” We then began to message each other and noticed we have a lot in common and started dating. As we were dating, we also found out that our grandparents used to hangout way back in the day, as they were both part of the Cypriot American organization…small world! Even though, neither of us had the chance to meet each others grandfather, it brings us both comfort that they were friends and are both looking down at us in awe of the person we are both marrying. Being together is no coincidence, it was written in the stars for us…we always knew we were soulmates.
