When I was studying at FAU, I met a lot of people and friends. Unbeknownst to us, we shared the same friend group, but never crossed paths. My last week in Florida, our friend got into a car accident and had to have surgery. Stephon was visiting him in the hospital when I walked into the same room. Our friends introduced us, and he knew me, but I had no clue who he was. We kept in touch via social media, which grew our friendship and exchanged phone numbers. I was living in NY and Stephon was living in FL. Our friendship quickly grew and we were best friends. We spent hours on the phone in between our work and school schedules, talking about everything and anything that we have experienced from childhood to recent. I fell hard and fast, but was scared he wouldn’t feel the same way. He flew to NY to visit family for the holidays, and I knew this was my chance and to risk it all. I pulled him aside in Battery Park on January 3, 2017, and the rest is history.
