Peyton and Josh worked together at Cinemark whenever he got hired on in 2012. Peyton introduced herself and slugged him in the shoulder as a way of saying hello. His first impression was "wow that actually hurt I guess that's how she says hi." They were friends for many years before finally getting together in November of 2015.

Josh had decided to propose before Thanksgiving. He couldn't find the right time to do it. Peyton had been hounding him that they could and should get married soon. She wanted to be married before 30 after all! He kept playing it off like it wouldn't happen anytime soon. He finally decided to do it on December 26. 2018. During Peyton's family's Christmas. It was too cliche to do it on actual Christmas, he had to wait for the day after! The whole family was in on it. They all knew that the "last present" of the night would be the proposal. So, of course, Momma wanted to keep the living room spotless for all the engagement videos! Unfortunately, it was a tradition that wrapping paper would be tossed in the middle of the room while everyone opened presents! Peyton noticed that paper wasn't being thrown in the center and SHE was the one who started making the mess in the middle. Not wanting to give away the surprise, everyone else joined in. When the last of the presents were given out, Josh said he had one more present to give and went to the other room. Peyton, completely unaware of any potential of proposal, thought to herself, "Aww I hope he got me that sparkly necklace I was wanting him to give me!" When Josh returned from the other room he started talking and Peyton thought again to herself, "How funny would it be if he was actually proposing right now." As Josh was talking about how happy she had made him and how much he had enjoyed the past few years they were together, she suddenly realized what was going on. Josh got down on both knees and proposed! She said yes and everyone cheered!
