We first crossed paths while working at Perry’s Steakhouse in 2014. Neither of us were ready for a relationship at the time as we were both working on ourselves and what we wanted for our futures. Time went on and a very special friendship developed between us that, over the next decade, slowly and tenderly unfolded into the love story you’ve come to know and celebrate with us. Throughout our relationship, we never rushed. Our path might have been unconventional, but looking back, we wouldn’t change a thing. We’ve shared over ten years of memories, both joyous and challenging, Our patience helped shape us into the best versions of ourselves, continually growing side by side. And then came the question. After so long, one might expect a grand proposal. Right? We were celebrating my 30th birthday in Hawaii. I planned a helicopter trip for the occasion, the one thing I truly wanted to do, and an engagement was the last thing I thought would happen during this trip. But I was wrong. There were little things throughout the day that made me suspicious, but I wasn’t going to think too hard about it. This trip was about going to a new place together and celebrating a new chapter. A new chapter indeed. As the helicopter landed near a stunning waterfall, just as we were about to take some photos together, Stephen approached me, digging in his pocket. “Is this it?” No, him pulling out chapstick, I laughed and new it wasn’t the time. Not upset at all, just humored, we took our photos in front of a beautiful landscape. Then, out of nowhere, he turned to face me, one knee down, and asked if I would spend forever with him. I was so overwhelmed I blacked out and, amusingly, never actually said yes out loud. Luckily, the wonderful people that flew with us caught it all on video, and I definitely nodded, face covered in tears! Stephen had orchestrated the perfect plan, having me organize the entire day to keep me distracted and the proposal under wraps. All in all, it worked out tremendously. So here we are, after all those years, we’re finally ready to do the darn thing! Surrounded by our closest loved ones, committing fully to the beautiful journey ahead.
